Kyushu University

Located in Fukuoka, which is renowned as Japan’s gateway to Asia due to its geographical proximity and diplomatic relations, Kyushu University was founded in 1911 as Kyushu Imperial University, our nation’s fourth oldest imperial university. The University has more than 2,000 full-time faculty members and approximately 19,000 students, of which about 10% are international students from over 80 different countries.

As the prelude to various events to mark the centennial anniversary of the University in 2011, Kyushu University hosted the 2nd Japan-UK Higher Education Symposium in November 2010, where the first concrete step in the establishment of a new partnership platform took place, leading to the successful launch of the new scheme “RENKEI” in March 2012.
